what do I have to do to change my 68 from a warning light dash to one with gauges?

See FAQs for detailed explanation.

The way I did it was to swap out the gauge cluster along with the engine wiring harness. Also need oil pressure metal line and fitting from engine through dash to cluster (oil gauge).

You need engine wiring harness because ammeter / voltmeter needs alternator signals (idiot light slightly different).
