Where to find complete Heater Duct replacement
I have a 1970 GMC C-20 without A/C. I have all new replacement parts for the heater system. Everything except the Duct work. I purchased them at Classic Industries. They offer 2 out of 3 parts for the Duct work. They have the Outer Heater Box from inside the Engine Compartment Part #17183 and the Air Selector Duct Assembly Part #G2776. But I can't find the piece that attaches from inside the cab to the Firewall. They only offer something called the Heater Box "S" Plenum (#AP7221) which looks nothing like what is in the truck. Listed here... http://www.classicindustries.com/sho...c-heater/?&p=9
I am looking for these 3 pieces. The very bottom piece separates into 2 pieces. Last edited by SonomaComa; 11-05-2015 at 03:21 AM. Reason: Correct explanation. |

Re: Where to find complete Heater Duct replacement
The metal duct at the end isn't reproduced, I believe. I haven't seen it in any catalog

Re: Where to find complete Heater Duct replacement
In the picture that I posted, it would be a piece from the bottom. The right hand side of the bottom piece. I still have mine but was going to replace all the parts listed in the picture.
I listed the parts that are available by Part Numer listed in Classic Industries catalog. |

It looks like mine has been kicked a few times and dented up. I was hoping to find a new one to bolt on. Mine will take some time to rebuild and straighten out. All the doors and flaps don't work all that well right now. |

Re: Where to find complete Heater Duct replacement
This is how I restore them. I take them apart, bead blast, paint and I replate the door and the rod. Also install new foam. They are the same for both ac and non ac trucks but they aren't reproduced.

Re: Where to find complete Heater Duct replacement
I didn't replace them. I removed them. Then I replated them, replaced the foam and reinstalled them.

How much? I do not have A/C. Mine is kinda dented and don't look that good and does not have the new rubber on any of the doors or flaps. On a heater system without A/C is a Heater Control Valve necessary? How do you stop the water from flowing through the heater core? An don the heater core, which gets mounted on the top, the 5/8" or 3/4" pipe? |
