How much to powdercoat wheels? I was quoted $100 each

Which includes blasting them, saving me from doing it at home. Still seems a little pricey, so before I go ahead, just want to make sure its not outrageous.

Looking for people that have had it done and what they paid, rather than guesses as to what it should be in a fair universe :-)

I was told $90 each from a local guy a while back. He coats them twice though as he ads a clear over top for durability.

I've paid between 50 and 110. 50 at Pacific Coast Powder Coat in CA. But ya gotta be nearby or ship. Also paid 50 at Outlaw PC in north tx (forget name of town, just south of Fort Worth, starts with an M, just east of Burleson...).

Les Schwab does white or black for $25 ea. Basic colors are $35. I've done a number of sets but had issues recently. 1) They wouldn't do my dog dish caps for some reason and 2) the wheels had blasting media all in the crack between the hoop and the center. I'm waiting to see if they can redo them and blow the gains of media out of the crack this time before powder coating.

I had schwabs do a set for me, but I did all the prep. Had them sand blasted first then I made sure the were super clean before I dropped them off at schwabs. Turned out great and price was around 35 or 40 bucks each.

Normally I won't have wheels powder coated, but I was having this done for a friend. I prefer paint

I think someone quoted me about 100 a piece also. Seemed reasonable based on other things I had powder coated.

Regarding eastwood - not sure a 3/4 ton wheel or even 1/2 ton will fit in a standard oven. Personally, I would NOT go this route. But if someone wants to experiment - with a wheel, not small parts, please let us know how it works out.

An additional resource is to check out major fencing manufacturers. They often have side-businesses of pc'ing auto parts - they throw em in when they do big fencing projects.

I found a place that blasted & powder coated for $50 a wheel.
Had a pair of Rally's done in gloss black. I would've spent too much time just trying to remove the rust!

I pay $65 blasted and coated. No clear is necessary for a proper powder coat job. The whole point of it is a hard durable finish that keeps it's shine. I have had white steel wheels for over 25 years stay looking like new. I had a gun metal grey job done that was metallic two-stage. The clear has a tendency to lift/blister where bolts are tightened and eventually peel. Just as with body paint, clear coat adds as much risk to failure as it gives added protection. On something like powder coat it's asking for trouble where it isn't even beneficial.
I've been dealing with the same place since the '80s on dozens of projects. They coat for many manufacturers, do production runs as well as individual orders.

For people who powder coat wheels in an oven, how do you suspend the wheel?

I know my buddy powdered 15" wheels in a standard oven. He applied the powder with an Eastwood kit. They came out beautiful. This was about 15 years ago.

I had mine blasted for $75 and was going to rattle can them silver until the shop said they would powder coat them (all four wheels) for $25 more! I couldn't get my money out fast enough! It was a local fabricator that would take local small part jobs. Might shop around a little bit, $400 is a bit steep...I have a set of four 8" 5x5 Rally's w/rings and caps for sale at the same price...

So, where'd you take your wheels to davepl?
I found a place in Preston, WA that I've had do a few sets of wheels, fenders for my jeep, oddball bumper and bracket parts. Can't remember what it cost for a set of wheels blasted and coated, but I know it wasn't too steep.

here ya go. This is just for the wheel. Each for $75. I also had them powder coat my front bumper. They did a good job.

I have been cost things(mostly rims) out of my garage for 8yrs. I started just for my own stuff. I will say at first I was doing aluminum rims for $80. Then nobody knows what clean means! Did a set of bike rims for a hondo.The set of ralleys I did for the truck are rusting(blasted powder primer and coat). Powder coat is good but it depends on the applicater. I can verify! You folks that have good experiences with your 'p coater then I would imagine they struggled to recoat. This stuff is nasty to remove!!!!
