Yes, and cut the down. If I did it over again I'd make new ones out of square tube, it would be easier.

Re: My version of the s10 swap

Today's progress, more parts installed for good. Got a decent start on the wiring and mounted the A/C plenum. Also mounted the outside door handles, really liking how things are coming together!

Test fitted one of the gauges:

Re: My version of the s10 swap

Little bit here, little bit there...that's how my progress has been happening lately.

Working on finishing up the radiator support and wiring the 5.3. Started with paper, got it to fit really well and then transferred to 20 gauge.

And this afternoon I picked up these, really happy with how they turned out:

And the door panels:

Re: My version of the s10 swap

Nice color on the interior. I plan on using something very close (already have the seat), but I'm not sure what the exterior color will be.

Hey, BlueJeep, I'm just getting to my fuel system now. Did you retain all the EVAP tank and lines for emissions, and retain the required wiring in the harness?

I assume you mean on the radiator support. 20 gauge, plenty heavy enough!

Thanks, the color of vinyl I chose was called Cognac.

Yes, I retained the EVAP tank, lines, and wiring. From all the reading I did, there is no good reason to get rid of it. It keeps the fuel that evaporates from the tank retained so it can be burned, rather than floating away into the atmosphere. My tune on the ECM I believe turned off the diagnostics for it, but it will still function. Someday I might have that turned back on....so I know if it ever goes bad.

Thank you. Maybe next year I'll have to try to attend your Metal Meet. I also want to do the Route 56 one in Minnesota.

Mine is based off a 95 extra cab, so yes it should work just fine.

Re: My version of the s10 swap

I know everyone changes out the rear axle off a 4x4 blazer for the extra 4" in width. What about using 2" billet spacers on each side, of the stock S101, should be the same effect, right? I plan to use this truck as a daily driver, i am trying to save as much money as possible. I plant to keep the 4.3L V6.

Re: My version of the s10 swap

I didnt use spacers or a 4x4 axle on my 47, just ordered wheels with close to a zero offset and I think it looked great.

Yep, what he said. I initially used a 4x4 rear axle because I had one lying around that was free, and it bolted right in. Later in my build I did a 9"... wouldn't do that again. For a "cheap" axle, it definitely was NOT. I'd do an explorer 8.8 next time or another s10 rear.

Thanks!

Seat is from 88-95 Chevy fullsize. All mounting photos are earlier in this build thread.

Re: My version of the s10 swap

It runs!!!!!

My goal was to have it running by the 1st, I didn't make that. I had it cranking over but it wouldn't fire. Yesterday I pulled out the injectors and they were really dirty. After rigging up a system to clean them, I got that done and put it back together and it fired right up. I don't have the radiator in yet so I didn't run it long, but long enough to know that it works!

The setup for cleaning the injectors. I didn't come up with it, watched a few videos on YouTube and worked pretty good. If I could seal up the straw in the cap it would have been better, but it did get the job done.

congrats. as long as there is some fluid in there, those things take forever to get up to temp, so you could run it for a while.
