New seats

Hey everyone, first off happy new year.

I just picked up some new seats for my truck. They came out of a 99-02 era Silverado. For there age there in pretty good shape. I've only found 3 little burn holes. The white on the seats is a little snow. I have a 2009 Silverado work truck and the seats is ripping at the seam where the side and the bottom come together and these seats aren't. I got them for $150 from a salvage yard in Pontiac. I like them b/c the seat belts are inter grated into the drivers and pass side seat so that should solve my seat belt issue.

I know I'm gonna have to make a few brackets to make it all work but it should be pretty easy. I'm gonna clean them really well then look into some seat covers. Anyone know of any good seat cover companies? I've seen some on eBay but I don't have any experience with them.

I don't know if you took any measurements, but most of us find that those seats are are a little too wide to fit a square body. I am assuming that you want to put them in a square.

Too wide? Interesting. To me the squares feel wider inside.

I'd like to hear about fitment, it might be nice to put modern seatbelts in mine.

It is because of the seat belts built into the seat that makes them too wide.

I actually didn't take the belts into consideration when I was measuring. I just measured the new seats and they're 58" wide. I'll measure my truck in the morning. Worst case is i wasted 150 bucks and I'll have to come up with something else. Oh well it's only money.

I just measured the cab and it looks like everything will fit. I measures the 01 Silverado seats at 58" and I measured from arm rest to arm rest is 62". Door to door it's around 66". I hope it works but if not I'll be back to the drawing board.

I'll know more once I take the other seats out.

I've never heard they are too wide but they will sit really high unless you build some new mounts

I think the biggest issue people run into is with the height of them. I bought a set for my '87 V20 Suburban and only ended up using the center console/jump seat. To get them to fit, people have to cut the hump and lower the floor pan to get the correct seat height. My center console sits a tab bit higher than the stock suburban buckets and is mounted to the dip that is about an inch or so lower than where the stock seats mount.

It looks like the seats are gonna be 2" taller. My truck has a set of ricaro buckets now. If it's only 2" then I can make that work. I'm putting in a tilt column and I'm only 5'5" so I hope I'm ok.

I was just browsing through the post. If you decide to go back to the bench style seat, at the the moment I have one.

They don't look terrible but I do see what u mean. They do sit to high. I don't want to cut the floor so I'll have to come up with something else.

In my Subaru I swapped a different seat that sits high but provides lots of support but won't go as low. I keep it cranked all the way up even though I'm 6'2", I still have enough headroom and feel I can see way better. I know it may not look as cool but I'd try it. The downside is seeing high traffic lights if first in line.

I'm not really concerned about what they look like but more about safety. I have a 2 year old and I want to put his car seat in so we can cruise. I'm gonna pull the passenger seat out this weekend and see what it looks like.

I don't think it looks that out of place. I like the head and neck protection and the seat belts. For myself, I couldn't live with losing any leg room. I have always thought the cabs in Chevy trucks don't have enough leg room and the steering wheel is too close to my chest. I am still on the lookout for a good seat that will fit this cab so I can get some head/neck protection. I hope it works out for you and your son since you did mention that you weren't a big guy.

When I broke my leg years ago I had to sell my Chevy pickup and buy a Dodge because I could not get my cast in the Chevy. I hate to admit it but I did like that 84 Dodge.

This is about the cleanest and best matching seat swap I have seen so far. They used 2nd row seats from a Honda Odessey van and they came out awesome.

I wonder how they would fit look without that middle section, in other words install them as bucket seats, and still get the integrated seat belts out of the deal

If you install those seats, keep in mind that the floor is reinforced in truck they came out of. Squares have the belts mounted to the B pillar and the floor. If you were in an accident, the belt will hold you in the seat, but will the seat rip out of the floor? Make sure you take that into consideration when mounting....

That's a good point about the floor being reinforced. I'm not sure if I could bring my self to put Honda seats in a gmc truck. Maybe that's just me.

Here's what I've found out. I didn't have time to remove the buckets today but I took a measurement of the 01 seats from where they're gonna mount up to where I'll be sitting. It looks like I have 11.5-12".
