Re: steel braided fuel line and vacuum line
The braided lines I use don't require AN fittings that I know of. They're just loose ends that I install AN fittings onto. I don't see any reason you couldn't just use a hose clamp on them.

Re: steel braided fuel line and vacuum line
I have used hose clamps on braided line before it didn't look so good ,when its cut it frays out and not to mention painfull to the fingers.i never did it but contemplated using some clear epoxy around the area before I cut it,and maybe that would hold the strands together.idk they also make a nylon type braided line if that will work for you. good luck.

You can tape over the ends of the hose before cutting to help reduce frays, though I couldn't even eliminate them totally.

Re: steel braided fuel line and vacuum line
FWIW guys, I personally avoid doing this unless you trim away the braided area where you'll be clamping (or expand it and use a clamp cover). The reason I say this is that the steel mesh can bunch up, catch in the clamp, or otherwise contribute to a less-than-ideal clamping situation. The inner rubber hose can be clamped like any other. Taping helps with this, but it still is another layer between your clamp and what is to be clamped.
Vacuum lines, anything low pressure is probably fine. Just use common sense if your ever doing it on anything that requires a high clamping force, or high pressure resistance.
