How are the repop bedsides?

I see many places selling the bedside replacement panels, but wondered if they are a complete panel (both inner and outer panels) All photos just show the outer. Prices are between $475-550 so I'm thinking for that much, it must be a complete, ready to bolt on, panel. To anyone that has used them, how are the body lines? I can either order AMD panels through Summit and pick them up, or through LMC and get free shipping. There is also a short bed for sale in my area, but he wants $2000

The only thing holding me back from finishing my 72 short bed K10 is the bed. I initially was waiting for a board member who is in the process of repoping the rear lower panels, but not sure when they will be available

Here is a few pictures of the bed kits we sell. The bedsides are complete inside and out. We also sell stainless bolt kits and have the best customer service in the industry!

Re: How are the repop bedsides?

Thanks, they look nice and the photos answered my question. Are they made by AMD also? I see your price is right there with everyone but I think shipping would kill me

We offer 10% off to all board members! Our bed kits are NOT made by AMD. Sometimes customer service is worth more than saving a few dollars in shipping. Good luck!

Re: How are the repop bedsides?

I've used 1 set of 67 short wide and they were great. The 68-72 take a little more work. Maybe the stamping is worn out? I would check with your local body shops and restoration shops they should have an account with LKQ Keystone so they are Goodmark sheet metal. I think $550 a side is about retail.

Good to know ☺ Are your beds/panels USA made? I know that AMD is making a few of their own panels for Chevelles, but I'm guessing all others are the Tri-Plus Taiwan panels. I'm assuming all Tri-Plus, Goodmark and Dynacorn are all made at the same Taiwan factory? I've relly never had the bad fitment issues some take about and that includes the many panels I used on my 67 Chevelle. I'll definitely keep you in mind when it's time to order

Re: How are the repop bedsides?

Does Mar-K do Fleetsides? I was under the impression all the short bedsides were made by on mfgr. Unless someone else started making them lately, that's how I thought it was. And, from what I've experienced, seen, and heard they are good parts. The whole new bed is nice.

Re: How are the repop bedsides?

I was a bit hesitant about re-pro bedsides initially until I saw an AMD bedside beside an original GM. The AMD is actually heavier ! I know the metal is just not the same as it was from the General, but finding a good SWB bed in the south is almost impossible. So, pick your advantage..

Do you want to pay top dollar for a descent SWB GM bed and have to fix rust, etc. ? Or do you want the top tier replacement bed sides, get what you want and not have to fix the rust? For me, AMD repros were the logical choice.

If I took off a short stepside, can I buy all the fleetside parts to build a complete short box?

Re: How are the repop bedsides?

Hard going from short step to short fleet. You will need a new tailgate, front wall, floor supports and floor. Can do a wood kit but in my opinion they cost what a good long bed with all you need costs. Then you just shorten the floor and sides and your done.

Re: How are the repop bedsides?

On these bedsides when you get ready for paint how much time is the body man going to have in them?

My bedsides I think are clean and original but I've got a bunch of old tie down holes that need welding and a ton of small dings. My guess is it's probably a coin flip to repair mine and get new sides cost wise

Sure can, my truck is originally a stepside too. If you take your time and look around occasionally they'll come up on CL (if you want GM) but around the SE area a good solid GM fleet bed will cost you $1500-$1800 Good luck finding an original wood floor, if that's what you want.

I pieced mine together. The cross supports are GM, the tail panel is GM, the tailgate is GM, Bedsides, front header panel, and wheel houses are AMD. Splash shields, tail light housings, lenses etc. are GM.

Re: How are the repop bedsides?

I sent an email to LMC asking who makes their bedsides, but for some weird reason, they won't tell me. Here is the reply from them "Thank you for your interest in LMC Truck. We do not provide our vendor or manufacturer information* unless otherwise noted in the catalog"

i was under the impression, as special-k stated above, that all bedside were made in one factory and just rebranded. I know one panel I bought was labeled Dynacon on the box and the part was labeled TriPlus

Re: How are the repop bedsides?

Nsanehotrodz, could you give me a link to your complete 67-72 short, fleetside bed kits? All I could find was stepside kit. Also, what would a rough shipping estimate be to 15214? The more I think about it, the more sense a complete bed makes

Re: How are the repop bedsides?

I did the same as CC69Rat put a fleetside box on a step side truck. The box I bought was very nice and needed hardly any filler whatsoever. I'm very happy with it.

Re: How are the repop bedsides?

Photos of the repops look good. It gives me hope! I guess they are all made in Taiwan though. At first I thought Woodall was a USA product, but in that one photo, it says Taiwan. Just need to find a kit minus the tailgate and wheel tubs

The problem is not necessarily where they are made but how closely the US reps monitor the quality..... AND correct the problems.

Makes sense. That is why I'll buy buying on forum members input and the vendor will most likely be board supporter. I've received a few pm's from sellers, so that is good. I'm more concerned with getting good quality, good fitting parts than I am with shipping (to an extent) and shipping seems to range from $175-$375. I'm not in a hurry to buy, but if a good enough deal pops up, I'll just store the parts till spring 😊
