Need Gas Tank Pics Panel Truck
Hey Guys. Newbie here to the 60 - 66 Chevy truck. I just purchased a 1964 panel truck.( Also recently a 55 step side.) Much work ahead of me. The gas tank was out of the panel truck and refurbished when I got it but in trying to put it back in, the tank lines up great but cant for the life of me figure out the strap. Can those of you willing post a few pictures of the strap ( i believe its just one ) and the way it mounts. there is definitely something homemade about mine.

I'll try to remember tonight. Just looked to see if any of my current pics showed it but not.
I know it runs side to side, not front to back. It was just a single strap as well.

I will try to post a photo of the strap on my 65 Suburban which is the same as your panel. There is a "j" type bolt that hooks through a hole in left frame rail andstrap goes acros bottom of tank to right frame rail.

Re: Need Gas Tank Pics Panel Truck
chevy mike is correct. The only one I have with the tank still mounted, is backed up to a small embankment. So I can't get underneath for pictures. The single strap runs left to right, in perspective to the frame. It's been a while, since I messed with one. Can not remember if it's the left or right side, but one of them is the pivot/slash hanging point for the strap. it is not bolted. The other side of the frame, should accept a bolt.

Re: Need Gas Tank Pics Panel Truck
Thanks so much for the help. Exactly what I needed. Looks like my strap is correct with its included s bolt. What I'm missing is another s bolt that has the nuts and would tighten the tank strap on the other side. Does anybody have one of those or the entire strap setup I could purchase.
Thanks again John |
