Shortening The Rear Section of a Long Bed

My truck should be arriving in a few weeks and I have been on the fence of making the truck a short bed or maybe cutting a section of the back of the bed off.

I did a crude Photoshop of removing the extended rear of the bed up to the fender, have any of you cut down a bed and if so any issues? It will be interesting shortening up the bed boards and metal strips.

The proportions of a shortend rear section of the box seem to look a little more proportioned.

What are your thoughts about proportions and look?

HAHA, I work fast and it is not as bad as it looks being a California truck

Problem is I need to figure out my chassis plans as it is my foundation and starting point of my build.

I did my last two Corvettes, 56 and 60 full body off's in about 7 months each. It is crazy fast but I am building a cool collection

I am only getting this info second hand from my cousin but the truck has no rust through, been in Van Nuys Ca all of it's life and it is just beat up by the sun. Even the parts of the paint that the paint has gone through to metal just has light surface rust. I will know more once it arrives, I am hoping I have no big rust issues.

The Corvette frame is after market from Street Shops but they only do Corvette frames. It drives awesome now. The other Corvette in the bottom picture which is a 60 is the hers version of my 56 and it only has a Jim Meyer Racing front end under it. That made a big difference.
