55 2nd series replacement rear glass

Well I painted the inside of the truck cab today. When I took out the rear Window (bad seal) I realized how much of a curve the glass has in it.
My question is... If I replace the rear glass, does it have to be curved or will flat glass work?
I have a 'crazy' idea of possibly using glass with wire in it. Similar to security glass you would see in a jail or school etc.

couldn't say for sure but maybe get a piece of plexiglass and see how it lays against the window opening and check for gaps

I was thinking along the same lines, but with cardboard or plywood.
The glass looks to be flat around the edges but it's curved in the center. Almost like a long bowl shape.

I have to tell you, safety plate glass will bend quite a bit more than you would think.

I have put simple flat safety plate in the AD and 55-59 and it worked just fine. It flexed with shape of the cab and worked just fine.

Use 16 GA sheetmetal for your template, thats what glaziers prefer if you are taking it to a shop. That allows you to cut your corners in perfect radius' for them.

Also curved glass is heated and bent into shape, it does not and is not suppose to be 'stressed' into flexing into position. That can be a very dangerous situation.
