I started this a month or two ago but never got it done so I finished getting all of the bends out of the front bumper this morning. The bottom was really bad but a torch and hammer with a couple hours of banging had good results.

Got my rear rear cab supports in today for $17.99 cdn ea. I'm not going to worry about these until I finish the door pillar/floor/rocker area.

You impress me with your lack of fear on cutting this old stuff out and repairing it at such an early age. You continue to do this through your life and you will become a "Metal God." I wished I had started earlier, but circumstances prevented it. Keep it up, I'm enjoying watching this.

Thank you very much, I plan to keep on doing this stuff and expanding my knowledge and experience on it so that one day I can become a "metal God". And I'm very glad that I was able to start doing this stuff at such an early age. Thanks for tuning in.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Worked on something a bit different today. My battery was held down by a strap so I made a hold down that uses the factory holes and design.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

It's a little too wet to do anything outside Today, but I brought my tires and rims to school, installed new valve stems and mounted and balanced them, with whitewalls facing out of course. Sometime soon I'll mask them off and sandblast and paint them.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

When I was sanding my rims it appears I accidentally uncovered some patina. If I was building mine into a patina truck I would definitely rock this.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Today I got busy after school and cut out lots more rust including the cab support, I then tacked in the new one. You can see the difference between the new and the old.

Thanks Dale, I should have it going soon as this weekend I'm planning on solving my driveshaft dilemma. The yoke I got didn't match with my u joints so I'm just going to bring a hack saw to the yard and cut off the front end of a driveshaft so the driveshaft yoke, ujoint and slip yoke all match up and if I need to buy new ujoint I just have to ask for one from whatever vehicle I took it from.

You really are progressing so well man.

If I were closer, I suspect I would pitch in with a day or two to give you those extra hands we can all do with some times.

Your thread is another one I check in on daily.

You continue to make me grin madly with your progress.

I have to admit I read and reread this thread to get pointers in fixing my Truck. I'm ashamed that I don't have near the ability of this Young Man. I admire his Spunk and I don't care attitude about tackling his problems Head On! I can see great things in his future - Stay The Course.
