Hubcap Experts: I need your help.
I've been searching for a long time and finally purchased the original white/red hubcaps on ebay to put on my 68.
When I got them and tried putting them on, they would not fit over my wheels? Below is the measurements of the white/red hubcaps. As you can see, the diameter of them appears to be approximately 9 1/8 inches. Did I mistakenly purchase C20 hubcaps? I'd like to get those 70s dog dishes off my truck because I don't like how they look on it! Thanks for the help! |

I may be mistaken but those look to be for rims with clips and Im assuming you have nubs if you have 70 dog dish? Arent 68 suppose to be silver? Or maybe just my 68 gmc were.

Briank is correct. The white and red caps are held on by clips on the wheel. The wheels you have are the nub style. You will need the older clip style wheels

Yes, I have nubs... Would aftermarket wheels like Wheels Vintiques happen to have wheels with clips? Otherwise, I guess I could give junkyards a shot.. I know a lot of the 67-72 6 lug steelies are getting hard to find

Re: Hubcap Experts: I need your help.
i've done the EXACT same thing! maybe you can trade your clip type for the nub type. are you wanting the red/white 67 caps specifically or are you looking for year correct? for 68 they would be black and gray or black and stainless...

Okay, yeah I like both the 67-68 dog dish style then. If I can make it work, I'd like to trade the nub steelies for clips ideally! |

Re: Hubcap Experts: I need your help.
If going for the painted look here are some pics showing the type of early style 1/2 ton cap that you should have purchased for the wheels on your truck, they are the 10 & 1/2" nub type. Without digging around in the shop and if my memory serves correctly, the pictured hubcaps that you purchased are the 67 3/4 ton clip type with that 9" cross dim. Mel
