Driveshaft 1/4 inch to long

Im swapping in a ford 9" into my 63 stepside. It leaves me with about 1/2" of end play in the trans side yoke. Since this is probably not the final incarnation of this truck, I thought i might have two options. one would be to move the engine and trans forward slightly,but that looks difficult the other would be to machine the yoke 1/4" to get the clearance (the yoke bottoms out externally). Anyone else ever have this Problem. The other solution is to shorten the shaft of course

I just had mine shortened, someone made it to long.
