temperature sending unit

question for you guys....my 1969 gmc 3/4 I rebuilt the engine and used newer model 305 heads.... the the temperature sending unit is smaller and now my temp gauge isn't working due to the wrong sending unit...does anybody know of a sending unit that will work my temp gauge properly?i was told I have the option of putting the oem sending unit in the waterneck...

What gauges are you using?? sending unit and gauges should be of the same manufacturer. auto meter or dolphin gauges should use their sending unit and so forth.
