New parking brake cable failure

I went to use my parking brake today, and the pedal went right to the floor. At first I thought maybe a cable had snapped underneath the truck, but after inspecting, everything was fine there. I then found out that this brand new cable, with at most, a dozen or so uses, had come apart inside the cab at the pedal assembly. The cable is still fine, it was that little piece (furrell?) somehow came off of the end of the cable. Is there anyway to repair this? It seems like a very tight fit, as I wasn't even able to slide it back onto the cable

I added these photos, because I'm sure my description has some saying, "huh?"

I bought the cables(s) back in Sept 2014 from Inline tube, but just recently have been able to drive the truck, so there is very little use on these cables

Re: New parking brake cable failure

I have made many e-brake cables by silver soldering the little ferrule on to the cable, I have even made my own ferrules. never had any failures to date. Those seam like they are crimped on with a tool. never seen one come apart like that before

Re: New parking brake cable failure

I'll give the solder a try, if I can somehow get that thing to slide back over the cable. I sent an email to InlineTube and explained what happened, so maybe they will have an idea, but solder seems like a good idea. That and if I can slide that ferrule over the cable, smash it with a BFH
