Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
Thanks Scott, it may be a while until it's on the road since I think I'm going to do the crossmember swap, power brakes and power steering first.

Did lot of work on taking the 78 apart and I struck it rich lol. Found a bunch of change in the ashtray. I'm looking forward to seeing what is hiding under the seat, allready found a couple wrenches.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
Got the 4spd removed from the 78 yesterday. This was quite the event since the trans (sm465) weighs 175 lbs and with the bellhousing it probably weighs 200 and I pulled it myself using just a regular jack and a ratchet strap. At least it's over with. I also got the steering box removed and it took a while since the pitman arm was stuck to the centre link.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
I got a ton done today, I removed the front fenders, inner fenders, core/rad/grille support, brake booster and master cylinder, distribution block and brake lines. Then I got the crossmember all unbolted and removed it as well. This pic is after I scraped all the grease off

Nice progress!
You must've got a super deal on the donor truck after deducting all the spare change you found.
