Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Happy day! I was showing a co-worker what I had done to my truck this weekend, and explained why I didn't drive it in to work today - carb leaking gas He, being a Ford guy, said "I have a Quadrajet you can have, I don't know how I come into possession of it, but it's yours. all you have to do is find an intake" so I called my buddy who has been helping me with the mechanics and told him (also a Ford guy), he said "I have a factory 4 barrel intake that will work" Jackpot! The Lord really looks out for me!
Oh yeah, what I did this weekend! seat repaired from this to this then removed the bench seat, removed all of the fuses and took a drimel tool with a wire brush and cleaned the fuse panel clips and fuses, put bulb grease on all of the fuses then put them back in, then put the seats in I have made some repairs over the past few weeks also: I also removed the glove box button and fixed it (WD40 and worked it until it was easy to push in and out) I remember this thing not working from when I was a kid, we would be going down the road and all of the sudden WHAM! open glove box lid across the knees! I got it in and operated it a few times, then closed it, I went to put some screw from the bench seat into the box for safe keeping, I can't get it to open now! I'm waiting for me to be going down the road and it fall open on my wife's knees! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
All I did today (yesterday) that was truck-related was to pump out the water from my derusting electrolysis tank. That greasy air cleaner left me an oil slick in the tank so I tried to get the water out without taking the oil with it (not a complete success).

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I turned The Green Barge into a solar oven. lol
Next door neighbor gave me 3 bags of Kale grown in all organic, grass-fed fertilized, screened soil from some sacred valley in Timbuktoo. Wife got Italian organic cold-pressed virgin non-GMO grass-fed Holy olive oil, added some Himalayan volcanic ash salt blessed by Tibetan monks smoking killer green bud. I then put on vintage cast iron pans, and put in the cab, for drying. Before I pulled any out, checked the temperature with the Ryobi (it's green color) infrared thermometer, 165°F was the highest reading. Now I can impress the Toyota Pious owners.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Yesterday I got a big ole box of goodies from Manes. New gauge cluster bezel, tach/vaccum gauge conversion, dome light harness (my truck is so basic the dome light isn't connected to door switches), courtesy light harness, new engine harness with HEI provisions and a new temp sending unit that will hopefully get the dash gauge back to reading properly (pretty sure I have the wrong sending unit in there).

Are those really gauges in your dash panel or printed cutouts? LOl maybe an optical illusion.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I got a little done today.
I tested my fan motor from the heater, it works great. I think testing it now was a better idea than putting it all back together and then testing it. I also scotch brite padded my heater box and washed it off. After a liberal use of ZEP Big Orange and lots of scraping and brushing, I was able to remove all the old gasket from the part of the heater box that has the big round rubber gasket. I'm hoping to put the heater box back together soon and get on with reassembly of my truck. |

Back out under the beech tree paint booth, I got the top primered in preparation for seam sealing the drip edge.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Solved my misfire problem in the HEI (bad rotor) and installed a new temp sending unit. My factory gauge now reads properly. I hope my near future upgrade projects all go as well. Can't wait to get that new gauge cluster in with a factory tach and vacuum gauge. Now that I have all the factory gauges working properly I'll probably take the aftermarket underdash gauges out.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Truck came with these seat covers so decided to use them for now. Replaced trans pan gasket last weekend but put a little too much fluid. Got this harbour freight suction thing, worked great. Added clamps to it to keep hoses from coming loose, not bad for 6.99.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Those seat covers look very nice indeed .
A word about recovering seats : the foam illustrated is shyte and partially the cause for early failure and always the cause of uncomfortable seats . Black or grey foam is *much* harder and gives vastly better support . oddly , Automotive Trim Supply Houses never seem to carry it . I go to Furniture Trim Shops , and be wary as the pricing can be all over the map , in a bad way . Once you use hard foam or (better) cotton batting , you'll never go back .
