tire size

I want to put on a set of 17 inch wheels 17 x 8 , but I am having trouble deciding on what size of tire to go with,
I was thinking a 265/65-17 any ideas?

Re: tire size

265 seems pretty wide for 8 inches.

I have 17 x 8 on the front, and 17 x 9 on the back. I went with 245's front 275's back.

Re: tire size

I have aftermarket wheels and hubs. Wilwood brakes, so the hubs were smaller than stock.

Re: tire size

265's are plenty wide enough for 8" wide rims. I have 265/75/16 on 16 x 7 rims, they look fine.

Re: tire size

I wouldn't put anything less than a 295 on a 10" rim. 265 on an 8" rim will be quite fine, I run 285/35/18 rear and 255/35/18 front both on 18X9.5" the 255 is a touch to small for the 9.5" rim wish I would have went 275 front and 305 rear.

Re: tire size

Tire size is a subjective matter. I think too wide a tire on the front of one of our trucks can ruin the look. Same with too short a tire. On my 69 short step I went with 235 55 17 in the front on an 8" zero offset rim and in the rear a 275 55 17 on a 9" zero offset rim. 27" tall in the front and 29" in the rear.
