What did you get done this weekend?

I got tons done this weekend

I installed a transcooler, a trailering harness, a brake controller, and a retractable underhood light I also have my tank switch solenoid setting up, I am gonna try a JB weld on it, and see if I can't fix it... If its good, I should be running dual tanks by Tuesday Good timing to get the extra gas too, its almost 80 cents a litre here right now

After I get that tank switch fixed, I will no longer have anything to do mechanically speaking Just gotta install a hitch, do my bodywork, and do some interior work, and then I gotta build my 355 and I'll be almost ready to call it done until I do a frame off on it in a couple of years

Its surprising how much you can get done when it warms up, eh. Yeah, I didn't get much done, actually nothing, but I did order up 4 Kuhmo tires (255/35/20) for my 20" rims. I thought tires were expensine fir 15" rims. I bought the cheapest there was I still had to shell out almost $2000 when everything was said and done No more burnout on those babies. I can't believe that I paid less for the rims than I did for the tires

I had yesterday off too, so thats why I was able to get so much done so fast, lol

Tommorow I am hoping to get my dual tanks going if possible... We'll see how the JB weld holds up...

Polished the turd paint job on the 82 Friday, used it Saturday as a lumber truck.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...threadid=95166

Trying to clean yard up as I may start the construction of the new shop this year instead of wating another year.

Today I cleaned (drill and wire brush) the cross rails for my 70's bed, as well as a few other parts. Then coated them with rust convertor. Primer and paint next. Who knows, the 70 may have a bed this summer.

Thats probably a Canadian price, seems kinda high still, but maybe not for 20's.

trust me if there were cheaper one's I would have gotten them. The 2 grand includes mounting and balancing. Still, when you compare the Canadian price to the American it looks pretty damn high. Damn exchange rate!

I spent most of the weekend working (on call) and trying to locate a new truck. So far the sales rep and I are both striking out. I may have to take one with fewer options than I want just to get it done.

I got a call from my buddy telling me the guy that went to pick up our crate motors was back from Street & Performance with a load of motors. To bad he picked up the WRONG motors. WTF?

He drove to Mena, Arkansas to pick up four motors and they gave him the wrong ones Unfortunately it wasn't an upgrade either. I can't wait till tomorrow to hear how this plays out...

I finished pulling the engine and trans out of my Indy Hauler. I've got a Goodwrench crate and a 700R4 almost ready to go back in. I'm going to break that in with a carb and then put my TPI intake and Megasquirt EFI on it.

Watched TV in my shop while sitting in my truck. (like the old drive-in days)
For like, 5 hours!
I finally had to get out to stretch my legs.
Walked into the house and sat on the couch.
Yep.....more TV.
WHAT A WASTED WEEKEND!

Totally rebuilt the front end of a Furd f250 HD. Had to wrestle with the parts guy to get him to look in the book and not the computer for the correct King pins. Damm Furds. Dealer can't even get the right parts.....
Also bought some RUSH tickets for the 30th anniversary tour !!!

Nothing was needed on the GMC, running great!

I had a buisy weekend. I replaced my rockers and cab corners on Sat. Today I got my bed and rear bumper back on, gutted the cab so I could get the carpet out (pad was soaked with water). Replaced the passenger door. I also helped a freind move his pulling truck from one bay to the other, that damn thing was heavy It is a 73 to 80 style chevy.

One step forward 2 steps back!

Sat:
Have not run my 75 Jimmy topless since October. It had a bad mis that I fixed (or so I thought). So ran some erands topless and went wheel shopping for the burb. Looks like I'll be ordering a set of O55 /outlawII's this week. We are putting that style on our Airstream and it's the only style that I like that comes in a 16x7 so that I can run my current tires. Looks like out the door with polished and the nicer eagle caps will be right around $440.

Helped my buddy weld up the floors in his Jeep.

Sunday...

Planned one firing up the smoker and shoping for a couple cheap mountain bikes. Decided to see what Costco had for both meat and bike. Drool over stainless steel tool box. No bikes but we did manage to walk out the door $400 lighter then when we came in.

So load up the burb with our haul. Go to fire it off and it turns over real slugish. Proceed to ***** about crap Wall mart battery.
Head home to get smoker going. Finaly get the food in at 5:30. Want to mow the yard and Burb in the way....Slow to crank.

Mow yard and go to pull back up drive. Won't crank. No clicks, Volt gage stays on 12v....This isn't the battery.
Hammer time! It fires off afer smacking the starter. Pull it up to the garage. Test. Battery is sitting at 12.8. Getting 12v at the starter trigger wire but no clicks. So 8 pm part stores closed. I have a new solonoide on shelf so decided to try that. Not exactly the right one so of couse it doesn't work.

Leave honda for wife to drive today. Take Jimmy to work. Starts missing. Think this is plug wires or plugs this time. Last time the tach was bouncing all over the place and that's not happening this time.

Need to pick up starter on the way home to fix burb and then get new plug wires (life time junk from AZ).

Can't seem to win.

Pulled the meat out of the smoker at 1am afer 7.5 hours at 150degrees.

Did a roast, some other beef with a different rub, some chicken and Salmon. Sampled till 1:30 am as we were putting it up. Have most of our dinners for the main taken care of for the week. Salmon tonight.

I did yard work, and temporarily lowered the crew cab! I got the 2500 loaded down with rail road cross ties that I removed from the back yard so I could have a place to build my kid a swing set. With the suspension mods on the 87, there's no way it would handle a load like this.

I ordered spindles, springs, and a flip kit. Went to Autozone and got some balljoints and Energy Suspension bumpstops (and a $3 plastic console-thingy to hold sodas).

I removed my bumpstops on the rear with an air chisel, then tried to trim the bed to make room for some shackles.

I started with an air chisel, then a grinder, moved to a sawzall, and finished with a cutting torch. It's not pretty.

It is harder than carp to get rusty bolts off of the suspension. I may just start chiseling all of my bolts off and just buy new ones in the future...

Oh yeah, I finally finished building my new bike too (mountain bike, not a Harley).
