Business Logo
Looking for ideas of putting my business logo on my truck.
It is painted flat black. Was thinking of doing it in all glass black so it is only kind of noticeable. Or something like pictured in white. Anyone have any input or good pictures to give me ideas. |

Re: Business Logo
Nifty if you own the business. Rather cool if it relates to a business your family owned in the past that might have run a similar truck. Rather lame if it is a fake business just to be one of the cool guys with a sign on the door of the truck.

Re: Business Logo
Cool beans, around here it seems that some guys think having a sign on the door that has no connection to any thing in their lives makes the truck a shop truck.
If what you show matches your shops logo I'd say go with it.

Re: Business Logo
I saw an old diner sign a few years ago I took pictures of to make a neat door logo for, maybe browse google images for old diner signs. In fact I just picked up a 1945 yellow pages book, advertisers back then knew how to catch a customers eye.

Re: Business Logo
Let me prefice this by saying I have studied marketing, it's a hobby of mine. I LOVE marketing.
A "Logo" is an utter waste of time unless you are spending millions of dollars educating the consumer what it means. A "logo" means nothing to the consumer unless they have been taught. You want them to KNOW what you can do for them with glance. Often cute logos take time to learn what they even say! You DO NOT want that! The very first yellow page ad I got 35 years ago was a great education. The guy who helped me with it was retired so he had nothing to sell me, he was only there to help me. I will never forget how he showed me the size of the ad wasn't very important, how what was most important is a clear "what do I have for you" message in your sign or name. Something I will always say when someone has some cute font instead of clear block letters, "Why don't they use that font on the street signs along the interstate?" They don't because making it easy for everyone to read and get the message is what is most important! I can not say this clear enough, the sign should be concise, it should be clear to anyone who even glances at it. What you do, what you DO, what you have to offer them, THAT should be the focus and not cute names, font, or logo. Ask people who don't know what you do what they think of your sign or "logo" before you finalize it. Brian

I have always been fond of the fruit and vegetable crate labels, lots of creativity used on them.

Yes, back in the good old days when things were relatively subtle. I am also a fan of aircraft nose art. When I was a kid one of the most impressive things about my Dad was the hula girl tatto on his bicep that shook her hips when he flexed his arm. He got it in Brisbane AU during WWII.

Re: Business Logo
soo using martinsr comment that good marketing lets you know what the product is, we can ascertain that this advertisement is marketing boobs. its more common than I would have thought, now if I think about it almost every company sells boobs.

Re: Business Logo
Love it, we are amazed at the play we get on our logo we had made for our classic truck builds.

Re: Business Logo
Ok so this is off topic but it caught my attention. My dad is in the works on painting my truck, I work part time in the goat business selling meat and live animals. We were playing with the idea of adding a goat to the door or (my idea) climbing onto the back tire on one side. It's not a logo, it won't sell me anything but it will distinguish my 67 "farm" truck from others. From reading this thread, would it look tacky or like someone said, a shop truck? We are putting lots and lots into this truck, I want it to be nice. Lisa

Re: Business Logo
This is a funny thought "do what you like" nooooooo, do what will make you money! A sign, that isn't for YOUR liking! Get yourself a painting to hang on the wall of your living room, now that is for you.
A logo, a name, a sign, that shouldn't have crap to do with what you like, it should be to let people know what you do so they can come in and give you money! THAT is what you do for your business. There is an amazing custom auto painter I know who had a logo on this truck that you honestly couldn't read. The guy made a piece of art, not thinking do other people see it the same as him, well they didn't. He got hooked up with a big paint company as a showhouse for their products. The very first thing they had him do was change his sign to something you could read, it is now still art, but clear as a bell what he does. It's like the restaurant where the AC is set for the workers in the hot kitchen, the customers are freezing their butts off but the cook is comfortable. This is just plain wrong and it's so sad how many will do this. Of course it's your business you should have a sign that reflects who you are, but to a point! The REASON for the sign is to tell people how to come and give you money. If they can't figure it out, they will simply give the money to someone else, it's that simple. And believe me I know from experience too, my business I had for 13 years had a clever name, one that was confusing. It was "Auto World Body repair." I had to have it listed in the Yellow pages (remember that? LOL) under "World auto body", "Brian's Auto World" and "Brian's Body shop" so people could find me, because THAT is how they remembered it, not my clever "Auto World body repair." I specialized in import cars, so it made sense right? Well it didn't to the people I wanted to come and give me money! The guy who helped me with those ads told me the name was bad, but it was all done so I had to leave it. I specialized in imports, so on my ad as per his suggestion I put Toyota, Datsun, Honda, etc (this was 1982) and DAMN did that work, holy crap! It was years later long after the name Datsun had been replaced with Nissan and one day I realized why I got so many old Datsuns! But that's how powerful the proper marketing can be. Hang the art in your living room, make your sign easy for people to come and give you money. Brian

I think maybe in your enthusiasm, you are either interpreting what people are saying differently than intended (on the internet? the hell you say) or you are placing the importance of advertising solely on the door art. for the first, people are saying "do what you like" to mean, dont let narrow minded people tell you that running door art is tacky or even unwarranted. if you want door art, run it, do what you like not what someone tells you. for the second, it would be extremely irresponsible to rely on door art as the ONLY form of advertising a company will do. more likely the consistency of the advertising is whats important, having the same logo between different mediums and clearly communicating what you do in all mediums. the eye catching part is not going to be the door art, it will be the truck. the truck will make people take notice of the door art, and not the other way around. I know without a doubt where at least ONE fireworks stand is in town because they have a 53 chevy parked out front with the fireworks sign in the bed. it could be next to or in between 20 other fireworks stands, but I know where that ONE is.
