I finally got my old truck!
Hello,
I've known for years and years that I've wanted an old truck. I told my husband it might have to happen in my next life. But since we needed a truck anyway for various hobbies and projects, my husband decided that making me relocate from Southern California to north western Oregon counts as a new life, and yesterday we found and purchased a 1977 GMC k25 long bed. She's beautiful in her big old truck way! Since the biggest thing I've driven on a daily basis is a Ford Explorer, and my daily driver is a Kia Soul, I've got some learning to do. Since Abigail Amelia is 'my' truck, I'm looking for forums and resources for general reading and help. Please, please correct me if I use the wrong term for anything! First searches: 1) Resource for a new windshield. Mine is cracked. 2) Where can I find a sticker of Ratfink in a 4x4 truck, generic or GMC, for the back window? She's out getting 'new shoes,' so she should look even better in the next photo. Thanks! Michelle |

Looks like it a work horse. What size tires are you going with? It looks lifted any bigger rubber you are gonna need steps.

Re: I finally got my old truck!
Hello and thanks for the welcomes!
We put on 35" mud runners, but 37" probably would have looked even better. I can hop in okay now, but yes, any taller and I will need some help! The truck is easier to drive than I expected... Whew! The turning radius is better than hoped. Kind of nice to have two gas tanks and not have to fuss with pulling up on the correct side of the pump. And the A/C still works reasonably well. Just love the sound of the engine and the solid BANG when you close the doors. However, feeling less friendly toward the little M3 that dashed across the freeway and cut me off.... "Puny humans." |
