Re: Thoughts on this truck....

Well you all are scaredy cats ! 😁 I just bought it , good frame ,radio delete ,flip seat ,AND A CLEAR TITLE with vin tags intact . Good old boy with a bunch of old trucks and cars ,it's titled as a 1968 chevy c-10 and he has the old front-end parts.

Anyone need GMC grille ?

For the guys who haven't done it before this is how you get a short bed frame for free . It will be a complete part out ,I have cabs and engines .

She's a beauty ain't she ?

Re: Thoughts on this truck....

When you start adding up the parts 6 intake exhaust ,column ,seat, tail lights, grille ,etc, etc, it's worth a LOT more .

I would have jumped all over that here in GA. Glad you did! A good shortbed roller frame is worth a good $600 down here, easy. But, knowing me, I'd get it up and running and sell it. Does it have any visor rust?

I would have snapped that up in a second just for the matching frame, intact vins, and title. Have everything to put it together.

Re: Thoughts on this truck....

If ya ask me that's not a bad deal for a real swb. Sure it looks rough but a good frame and title is really all ya need too start and of course a decent cab also.

Around here you might get the frame and a little more for 5 bills but not a complete truck. But it also depends on the seller.

Did the op decide too pass on it?

Vin CE148B

V8 1/2 ton 68 Baltimore something tells me this old truck has stories to tell yet , I can't wait to dig thru it and see what's really going on .if the cab doesn't have major issues I have all the parts to put it back together as a Chevy with a coil spring rear frame using parts from a long bed frame I've been looking to sell . I also have a very nice Gmc short bed frame that needs a rear axle . Can anyone tell how many nubs are on those wheels ? You know sometimes buying these things sight unseen can be an adventure in its self .Like I needed one more project ,I just can't keep from buying somewhat intact $500.00 trucks ! And it's only 70 miles away .

I mean really it's priced at scrap value .

I am the same way Grumpy, I just missed another 72 for 300.00 I can make more than that in one part !! How many rust buckets have you seen on here as projects that turn into gems ? ALOT !! My 68 was worse than that one you just bought, I honestly do not even have much left of the original truck Left after I removed all the parts that were bad I am glad to see someone save this gem from the crusher

Re: Thoughts on this truck....

There's a local "crusher" they never sell parts and I've tried to save later models that people drove in and sold ,there aren't any $1,000.00 cars or trucks from any year around here the scrapper pays too much .

you just live in a different part of the country that doesn't have to worry about rust.
If I were still in Virginia where I'm from I'd have snatched that up and not thought twice. Great score GOM! There's a bunch of nice parts on that one. If the inner roof of the cab is still good than I'd say you really did good.

Re: Thoughts on this truck....

I'm really not interested in the sheet metal , All I wanted is the driveline and frame . if anything else is salvageable it's a bonus . And I'm pretty sure that smog pump means it has double pulleys on it .the engine is seized but that leaves the head ,the oil pan, intake and exhaust manifolds ,carb, air cleaner ,pulleys, radio delete ,seat, grille, rims, vent windows ,drive shaft ,trans, rear, brake drums ,etc, etc even the rusty flow thru tailgate will give up its actuator rods and the tail lights from the bed . The cab with vin and title will be on the parts board with the grille next week ...
