Need advice for a major job.
It's major to me at least but I know a lot of you do this almost regularly ha. So my 67 has a crap frame(it's bent BAD). I've got a replacement frame from a 69 half ton with trailing arm rear, so that's sorted out. I will have it blasted and powder coated with all my new shiny suspension bits on it when the time comes. However the issue is how does one take a cab and front clip, that is fresh out of paint (6 months) and swap frames. Looking for advice! I know "how" to but what will make this easier and what will lower my chance of really messing something up. I have no two post lift... Otherwise I wouldn't have posted this ha. Thanks in advance anyone!

Re: Need advice for a major job.
Ive removed & installed cabs using a engine hoist , but doors were off & used chains & bolts where cab mounts. I used floor jack to raise cab after unbolting & placed 2×4s under it so i could rig the chains for lifting. . Hope this helps? Unless you have alot of weight lifter buddies around? As far as not harming fresh paint? Im no help nothing i own has nice paint...

Re: Need advice for a major job.
Is the glass out of it? The cab and body lift that you can buy plans for here works fairly well. If you're careful you could transfer a painted cab and bed with it.
The catch, as I said though, is that it assumes the front and rear glass are out of the cab. If they're not, the cab is surprisingly light. I'd find 4 helpers before I cut the glass out of mine.

Take the front clip off as one unit, 8-10 bolts, then lift the cab off either with a cherry picker engine hoist or 4 guys. LockDoc

Re: Need advice for a major job.
I have a carport and I use a come-a-long to each seat belt mount with the doors open to the carport frame (you could use garage trusses) then the engine hoist on the radiator support with nylon straps. Roll out the frame and roll in the new one. I sometimes have build up more support for the carport and or garage trusses for the lift.

Since the cab is painted I would make something to prop the doors open and not allow the to move in or out. The seat belt reinforcements are very strong lifting point.

Re: Need advice for a major job.
Glass is out! If it really is as light as y'all say then I might just find 4 buddies.. The bed is already off and on a dolly.. Hood is off and no front grille yet.. Like I said it's not a major job for a lot of you guys just daunting to me cause I've never done something like this.. Ha

Re: Need advice for a major job.
I have seen people take the front clip off and position an engine hoist to the inner cab top with some plywood in between it and the roof through an open door or removed door.
