Fresh Air and A/C flapper rubber repair??

What is the best way to replace the fresh air seal and the a/c flapper seals.

They appear to be riveted and the rubber sandwiched in the middle.

Where do I get replacements for all 3 flaps?

Many thanks, Rich

I learned from someone on this site - their post must be in the archives and I'm sorry that I can't recall who it was to credit him

I didn't do as good a job as him but I just drilled out the rivets, bought a few sheets of 8-1/2" x 11" 1/8" thick foam from the hobby shop (or something like a Michaels Art Supply) and replaced the foam after cleaning and painting the metal parts.

I just used sheet metal screws (that I later cut off flush) to reassemble the sandwich; it would be easy to just rivet them too but I wanted to make it easy to replace the rubber in the future.

Photos attached sorry I only have the one photo.. It takes a while to refinish the metal so maybe just for that reason buying an entire assembly may make sense.. But the refurb does work

Not sure on the A/C flapper. I only ordered the fresh air vent rubbers.

I did the same as gromit but instead of sheet metal screws i used SS pop rivets to reassemble.

I bought my foam at Hobby Lobby. Enough foam to do several vents for a LOT less than the precut gaskets.

I think the 3 he means must be:

Driver's side
Passenger side
Cowl vent

I replaced the cowl vent with an aftermarket piece that functions right but didn't look a visual match.

Re: Fresh Air and A/C flapper rubber repair??

thanks, that's what I was going to do. Stainless pop rivets for sure....

I'll have the vents powder coated after I take them apart. I have a guy local and he bead blasts them, soaks them in acid to remove all rust and coats them. If I didn't have someone local I wouldn't do it that way
