Preset on Carb Thermostatic Coil Required??

Truck: 1972 GMC with in-line 6 cylinder and Monojet carb

When installing the choke rod between the choke valve lever arm and the thermostatic coil on the manifold ..... does the rod get installed into the coil at the coil's "relaxed" position, or is there any "preset" put on the coil before installing the rod?

Just make sure that the choke plate closes when the accelerator pedal is pressed to the floor with the engine cold and not running. Any adjustment needed is made by bending the linkage rod.
