OT--parts washer

Just bought a new 20 gal. parts washer and I'm not inclined to pay $5 a gallon for cleaner solution. Thought I'd ask the guys that are as cheap as I am what they use in their washers? (The manual says not to use deisel fuel or kerosene)

If you have a TSC (Tractor Supply) store in the area check there. I purchased a 5 gallon bucket for $20.

I just use mineral spirits, but I dont have a parts washer...just an old bedpan for small parts and a kitty litter tray for my big parts. I think its like $2-$3 / gallon.

PARTS WASHER SOLUTION

I use mineral spirits in mine with good results.I used to use k-1 kerosene which did an excellant job but the mineral spirits do just as well, without the oily residue on the parts I want to paint when done cleaning.

I have used kerosene and deisel fuel for years and I am just sick of the smell, besides that fact that you have to clean it again before you paint anything. Gutterman has the right idea regarding a water based cleaner, but I'm not familar with mean green. Anyone else know of a water mix solution I can use?
