Dual tank switch removal

'84 K20, Want to change out the dual tank switch on dash. What's the procedure of extracting the switch?? Pry it out? Doesn't seem to be easy access to the back of the switch. Thank You!

Re: Dual tank switch removal

It just snaps in. There are some springy tabs that hold it in place, you need to compress those from the back side.

The 77's were bolted in from the back side

Re: Dual tank switch removal

My '77 did not have a dual tank switch. I got one for a later model, and I cut the correct hole in the dash to match.

Re: Dual tank switch removal

It snaps in with plastic tabs, but I have never been able to get it out in a truck with A/C without removing the dash pad. The A/C ducts block off access to the rear of the switch. The switch and cover plate are about $20, so if you snap it off from the front you can buy a replacement which can be installed from the front without accessing the back.
