Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Thanks for the comments everyone.
My body wasn't always this good. It took a ton of time to get it to this point. I'm definitely happy with where it's at. |

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Beautiful! I joined the upside down bumper club (front and back) on purpose. I have to admit, the correct orientation is growing on me. Looking forward to the color coat!!

Thanks for the comments. The truck is on hold right now. I always take a break on it around the holidays. I will pick it up again in January. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing some paint in it.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Wow it looks like you ended up doing the same type of bodywork on that new RH front fender I did to mine , those new fenders sure done line up good, one more thing make sure you reinforce the fender rear lower bolt hole mounts. The metal is much thinner then the original, mine broke off on both side after only about 8000 miles of driving. Not very easy to fix when the truck is all painted up, I wasn't too impress with the quality of those after market fenders.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Thanks for the comments. I love the way they look as well. I thought about going a little bit lower on mine but initially I wasn't running air-ride. I'm happy with the stance.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Truck looks AWESOME!
Do you know what the rack is from in the truck? I am doing a similar build with a C5 front suspension, but the rack is way too wide for my application and yours looks a lot shorter. Do you know what the ball pivot to ball pivot measurement is? overall width and how many turns lock to lock? |

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
The rack is from the C4 front suspension. I had the original but it was shot so I ordered a replacement. I'm not sure on the measurements though.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Thanks for the reply, Ill look into finding one and try to get measurements. Any chance you know what the part number for the front shockwaves are and how much travel you get out of them?

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
I'm running the 1000 series shockwave bags. I believe they at the HQ model that are single adjustable but I will double check tonight for you if you want. Not sure how the C5 lower control arms are but I bought the ridetech brackets to mount the bag and they didn't work too well. We ended making our own lower brackets. As far as travel I get around 7 or 8 inches in the rear and I think 6-7 inches in the front. I haven't checked since we remade the front bag mounts.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Went down to Godspeed Rides to check out the truck. Should be started back in it this week. Picked out some paint colors. Next step is to finish up some mock up and then a couple rounds of primer and blocking and this thing is ready for paint and powder coat. Can't wait to see some color on it.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Work on the truck has started again. The cab was sprayed with PPG epoxy and the sanding is just about done. A fresh coat of primer should be applied in the next day or so. Also work will begin on the bed as well.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
We finally got the body work wrapped up. The bed parts were finished up and final primer was done on Friday. Some final mock up is up next. The parts are looking great and I can't wait to get some paint on it.
