1966 4X4 Transfer Case question...

I have a 64 Pickup on a 66 4x4 frame and there is a lot of movement in my transfer case to the point it binds up the U-Joints. I definitely need new bushings for the transfer case mounts. I've seen the kit for sale online (here's one of them - http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/Chevrolet/K10_Pickup/Prothane/Transfer_Case_Mountapwcid=ecncse&ID=apw1966chk1pitrcamoPTH71603BL. Any other recommendations for these bushing kits?

What I'm wondering are the rubber (Polyurethane) parts the same for the top (driver) mount and bottom(passenger side)? If so, I'd need two kits.

Also, looks like prior owner had a piece mounted to the lower (passenger side) bracket and to the frame(see pic). Does anyone think I need it to be re-welded? I'm thinking no.
Thanks!

Re: 1966 4X4 Transfer Case question...

Are you sure? I talked to a mechanic today who has had a few of these trucks and he said it looks like someone welded a brace on the original bracket. I've attached a view from the other side. Do you have a pic of the original bracket?

Re: 1966 4X4 Transfer Case question...

does look like the bull gear did jump the heifer gear alright, the oerg bracket must have cracked and some skilled individual repaired. you can buy the insulators still. I may one of those grackets around somewhere. if you get yourself a copy of the 1960-1966 chevy/gmc assembly instruction manual there are some good pictures of both mounting areas. I would get new insulators for the top also. you will have to replace all of the bolts and that too. all the new insulators and that will bring it back into it's proper position
