At $2000.00 would you say this is a good buy? The frame was patched which isn't a great thing and I'll have to do it right. And make sure it is cut out and replaced such that it matches the surface of the frame.

I realize it's a short stepper, but that thing has some really serious issues. Between the rust at the top of the windshield and the patch job on the frame I wouldn't touch it for $2,000. Of course, truck prices in your neck of the woods could be different...

With that much rust in the cab and the frame I'm betting that the cab supports, firewall, lower cowl, and other areas are also rusty. I would pass on it unless you have some mad metal working skills.... or a lot of extra cash...

I wouldn't, rust looks pretty scary. Only worse what you can't see.

The most that I would go with that truck is $500, and that if I had good metal working and welding skills. There's just to much metal damage that can be hidden from view.

Way too much rust. That roof rust most likely runs down the A pillar(s). Plus a poorly repaired or chopped frame. Looks like the ultimate in self-punishment.

I wouldn't pay two grand that's for sure but if you can get it for less and do some of your own repair work (and you aren't looking for perfect....) How is the drive train? It does have a pretty mean look to it. Looks like some old Pro-Trac tires on the rear?

No.

EDIT:
You didn't mention it here, but I just read your other thread that mentions it doesn't even have an engine? I'll change my answer to "Absolutely not"

It's worth quite a bit less in parts I imagine. Keep looking.

Re: is this truck a good buy at $2000.00?

Well I appreciate your opinion skyline@telus.net I won't do it I have been looking for a 67 short wheel base for so long. So when I saw this thing I was pretty but seemed like too many questions marks around it.

And yeast it use to have an in line six but that engine is gone.

I was considering between the truck above and this one, I think I'll just get this one it's pretty cool a 69 one ton dually with a special paint colour from factory

Your at both ends of the realm , a 67 shortbed or a 69 dually ? What are you planning on using it for ? The 67 is a parts only truck and not worth $500 the 69 is strictly work only . You need to decide what you really want before buying anything .

Ten years ago I gave away a '67 short step in similar condition.

Re: is this truck a good buy at $2000.00?

That 69 I want to do a restomod on put in a diesel engine in it. I was going to buy the 67 and turn it into a cool street rod but from all the comments on here it seems like my being worried that's too much rust to deal with was right. So I was saying I'll just get that one ton dually. And either put a bed on it with the dually fenders or do something like they did in the fast and ferrous Name: a4c1347d7b41b6a7c220a8f352564cf6.jpg

I hate to say this about a 67, but I wouldn't even let that one in my yard for parts. I'd be willing to bet a magnet wouldn't stick anywhere below the body line on that truck.

The 69 *appears* to be a much more solid truck. I'd be cautious of any truck in your area and bring a soft magnet with you when you check any truck out (like the ones you get from rock auto orders).

Thanks for the the advice I really was surprised to find a 69 dually 1 ton because under the production numbers for that year I couldn't find anything just a dash. So I called the chevy heritage center and was told that could be because there were less than 1000 made so they didn't keep track of the number. But then there was the colour which to me seemed weird and something some one else painted after they got it. But seems to be a factory colour a special paint job from factory which I intend to restore. I know the one tons tend not to be as valuable but this thing seems quite rare so I wanted to do a cool restomod with it.

The dually was originally a 157" wheel base truck that has obviously been cut down. It may be an oddball wheel base so I would measure it to see what it is for sure. I would say that is bigger than a one ton..... 10 bolt axles and a 14000 GVW???

So you think the frame may have been cut on the green truck? Because it is a 157 in wheel base. But ya it is a 14000 GVW which I am sure you saw on the SPID.

That 67 doesn't have an ownership either. I saw that truck on kijiji and contacted the seller. The more I look at these Ontario trucks. I think it's money well spent to get a clean rust free southern truck.

Yes. Here in Ontario it's called an ownership. Same thing though.
