Re: Educate Me - 1970 BB Spark Plug Heat Shields
I have them on my 1970, so if you put them on, others will too, and soon it will be the standard regardless of what they did in 1970! Kind of like you could write stuff on your firewall in paint marker and people will copy it.
My motor did NOT have them when I pulled it though, but who knows what survives 45 years. I guess this is my way of saying "I don't know, but I want to know, so I'll blabber on this thread which will subscribe me". You know, all in all, those don't look like my exhaust manifolds, but they look like they should flow not bad, really. Don't know the port size but the shape and path is halfway decent!

Re: Educate Me - 1970 BB Spark Plug Heat Shields
The 1970 big block Corvettes I have worked on had them, and the Chevelles were mixed. I don't know about trucks. They certainly can't hurt anything.

Even the Corvettes didn't have those cools ones on the left side.

Re: Educate Me - 1970 BB Spark Plug Heat Shields
The eBay ones are 72 up type, the round cylinder type were earlier and were used at least in 71. My factory 70 bb does not have them but my factory 71 bb does. The engine in picture is a chevelle or some hp car motor , those manifolds are not truck manifolds.
