Re: 4x4 frame id

"C" Is for 2wd. "K" is for a factory 4x4.

Re: 4x4 frame id

The partial vin if there should be stamped on top of the drivers frame rail just behind the steering box. Correct me if I'm wrong but, mines a partial vin. only the last 6 or 8 numbers of the vin so you won't see anything that is relevant to 2wdvs4wd unless your vin matches the cab vin, at which point you'll know what the truck was originally.

Re: 4x4 frame id

Do you know what year frame you've got? Early GMCs are not as likely to have the vin stamped up by the steering box. Does it have the driver front spring stops or a disk brake front axle?

Re: 4x4 frame id

If you can post a pic we can identify it pretty easily on here.

Re: 4x4 frame id

Tash4, Your frame is a 1977.
C7F189923
C, if your frame was a 1967 this C would NOT be here. C is for Chevrolet. Also 67s were stamped on the driver side rail only. 73-80 could be driver or passenger side depending on year or assembly plant.
7 = 1977, if it was a 1987 it would have a H here
F = Flint assembly plant
189923 = Unique ID, Started at 100001

Re: 4x4 frame id

Also an easy way to tell is that 67-72 shocks mount towards the front of the rear axle. 73+ are stagger mounted.
