Re: 1 Owner 1976 SWB
I finally did the LED bulb upgrade on the gauges this weekend.
HUGE difference. I did the gauge cluster & ac/heat controls. I wish I could change the radio bulb too but I do plan to change to a retrosound style radio in the future. BEFORE AFTER BULBS USED Last edited by JWall; 03-27-2017 at 09:04 AM. |

Re: 1 Owner 1976 SWB
That looks awesome! The factory dash lighting on these trucks is pretty bad, I rarely drive mine at night, but I may have to upgrade my 87.

Yeah my truck rarely sees dark either unless we are leaving real early for a car show or something but it was definitely worth the time to upgrade. |

It well worth it. The LEDs make it brighter yet easier to look at as the light isnt harsh,

Re: 1 Owner 1976 SWB
I upgraded my headlights to LED this weekend.
I FINALLY found a set of LED headlights that the lenses look stock so I upgraded. Seems most LED's for these trucks are halos, or have a logo in the middle, or something. I was pleased these appear stock until on. The lights are from Stark Lighting BEFORE PICS 1 LED 1 REGULAR AFTER - LEDS |

Re: 1 Owner 1976 SWB
Was it a simple plug and play or was there any wiring involved for the LED?

Re: 1 Owner 1976 SWB
Very nice! I've always hated the way LED headlights look too. I may have to get some of those. Getting older, it seems I can't ever have enough light lately.

Re: 1 Owner 1976 SWB
I got mine yesterday and installed one of them last night. The difference is amazing! I do have one question though. The headlight housing came with a rubber boot that seals the bulb to the housing. Did you install that on yours? I didn't as I was worried that the heat generated by the bulbs heat sink might melt it. Any thoughts? Here's some pics of my install.

I did not install those either. I was going to see how hot they get after using them for a while to see if I was going to run them.

Re: 1 Owner 1976 SWB
I didn't have any issue with that but I did have to clock the light bulb itself.
When you turned them on the led that comes on for the high beam wasn't at the top. I felt like it should be at the top so I clocked the bulbs. |
