Brake light touble
1970 chevy. Both tail lights work. But no blinkers, flashers, or brake lights work. (The flashers and blinkers work in the front though.) When I pinked it up 2 days ago the drivers side blinker and brakes worked. But now neither brakes or blinkers work. I checked brake switch for positioning and the position was good

Re: Brake light touble
Where would the brake lights be grounded? It looks like the grounds go all the way to the front

Re: Brake light touble
The brake light housing is grounded though the mounting screws. Check the brake switch first. Make sure when you press the pedal the switch works. Just looking at it doesn't mean it's right. Take your hand and press it while you see the plunger come up to check for 12 volts at the connections.

Like the others have said check the obvious things first. There are no ground wires that go all the way to the front, not in the stock configuration anyway. Brake and tail light bulbs ground through the light housings, to the bed, to the frame, to the engine, (which has rubber mounts), to the battery. The problem is after 40+ years stuff gets rusty, the sockets don't ground to the bulb anymore, the housings don't ground to the bed anymore, the bed doesn't ground to the frame anymore, and the frame doesn't ground to the engine anymore. On top of that most of the stock ground straps have been removed or broken off. Install ground straps using this thread as a guide.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=422234 LockDoc
