No new control arms

New guy here and have been searching high and low for new lower control arms for an 83 c10. Can anybody tell me a part # or where to look anything will be better than what I'm coming up with. Autozone has them for something like 300 a peice and well sorry not happening. If I have to rebuild mine I guess thats ok I do have new ball joint for them but... Also when I search r10 lca it says they won't fit.

A word of caution: I got a Raybestos lower control arm and it did not have the cut out for the brake hose bracket, so one had to be hacked in.

The only company that offers lower is LMC. It's an exclusive parts according to them.

Another question I have is that all the uppers and lowers are interchagable between half, 3/4, 1 tons with the 73-87 squares right? Certainly other years included and excluded but the ball joint is the difference? I have found new lca for 3/4, 1tons so all I would need would be to change the ball joints which I already have.

Can't be too bad to rebuild the arms? New Moog bushings and ball joint is pretty cheap, just some labor to install.

I actually had a rotted out upper arm on mine and had to get a new one.

Just had a chat with moog and those are discontinued and no replacments. The reason I'm asking about the c20 arms is that rock auto has them for 57 apeice. I would b hard pressed to rebuild mine for that and alot less labor because this bushing can be a pain.

I believe the only difference is that the C20 bushings are solid steel, not rubber. Might be a little harsher ride?

I wish they did for $57 each, I think it'd be worth it. I just did lower ball joints, control arm bushings and sand blasted and painted. Major pain in the ass. I had to burn out the bushings. Took probably 30 minute an arm. Lots of gas.

1/2 ton a-arms are different vs 3/4 & 1-ton a-arms. Different bushings (upper/lower) & different lower BJ's (larger). You can't just swap in a 1/2 ton BJ on the lower arms as the hole is physically larger.

Thanks scoti and everybody who responded. I'm almost temped to bore the taper on the spindle to make a c20 ball joint to fit. The c20 arm will bolt up to a 1/2 ton frame?

Correct. The difference I know of is the lower BJ's being a diff size for 1/2 ton vs 3/4 & 1-ton spec arms. The lowers require the different arms (or diff approach like reaming the spindle). The upper arms will allow swapping BJ's (1/2, 3/4, 1-ton BJ's all have the same mounting bolt pattern).

3/4 & 1-ton upper arm mounting shafts are different too vs 1/2 tons (1/2" a-arm shaft studs = 1/2 ton; 9/16" studs/shafts = 3/4 & 1-ton).
*Disclaimer: I believe the larger studs are 9/16" but it's been a while since I've swapped stuff so it could be a different size.*

so if i get a c20 lower control and ream the spindle out to receive a c20 balljoint and it will bolt in onto the stock crossmember, is that all the mods i have to do to get it to work with my truck? i have an 85 c10 and cant find lowers to replace mine.

Correct.

I have bolted 3/4 & 1-ton arms to a 1/2 ton crossmember. My dually has a 1/2 ton crossmember, 1/2 ton 67-72 upper a-arms (w/1-ton BJ's), & 1-ton lower arms.
