rare option revealed!!!

A few wks ago I posted that I bought this parts truck with some rare options. Speed warning indicator and a weird deal that dropped the spare tire automatically. It has a switch under the seat. I found the paper work in the glove box along with the title!! As far as I can tell it's a ad on. The company is listed out of Ft worth dallas. On the diagram it lists 1960-68 GM trucks. The hydraulic part of the the spare tire changer is connected to the front brake drum on the passenger side. It uses brake fluid!!!

Has anyone else seen this???

The truck is a 1967 c10 with red vermillion ext and blue interior which I thought was weird.

Sounds unusual ... and not entirely smart either.

Not so sure I would be willing to hook ANYTHING to my braking system that doesn't have something to do with slowing my truck down. Especially something as mundane as an "automatic spare tire dropper downer" .... geez, why would anyone need that sort of thing? How many flats can a person have to require such an "add-on?" Unless of course you work at a nail factory.

So what would you do... Pump your brakes to lower/raise the spare

I agree with Shane, I wouldn't want it hooked to my brakes if it didn't have anything to do with it...

maybe it is to slow youre truck down!!!! maybe if you pump the brakes and there isnnt any pressure it sets of a sensor which drops youre spare tire like an anchor attatched to about 20 feet of steel cable lol !!!!!!!
