Another Needle in a Haystack

So has anyone found a source for the rubber vent tube for the A/C blower motors? Any leads would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Randy

Re: Another Needle in a Haystack

I haven't looked at mine lately to see what it looks like but how about one from a newer car/truck.

Re: Another Needle in a Haystack

So my truck is completely torn down undergoing a frame-off. I have no idea of exactly what I'm looking for. Anyone have a pic of one? I've spent hours researching (Google) and have found more info, i.e. it's a cooling/vent tube and not a drain. Found some pics there but finding the actual tube is tougher. I have located one for 1988 GMs but won't be able to trial fit it until I get my truck back.

I've spent hours looking through every parts catalog in existence for our trucks with no success. Even the new blower motors do not come with the tube.

I guess I'll have to re-engineer something when (if) I ever get my truck back...
B/R,
Randy

Get a catalog for impala or similar big gm car or camaro. Alot of the small misc parts like this are available through them where truck venders will not carry it. That is where I find my hard to get parts, they also offer the small metal clip that holds it in place. Ecklers may have them.

Re: Another Needle in a Haystack

Do the they even have a tube? I have a non a/c truck and it just has a rubber plug in the hole on the blower motor. Maybe the a/c trucks are different.

Re: Another Needle in a Haystack

Yup - the A/C motors are different... Have found 3 different tubes, not sure any are correct but maybe I can piece three into one. Would someone take a picture for me of this elusive beast? First I've heard of a metal retaining clip, is it on the attachment point where it goes into the heater box?
Thanks!
Randy

Re: Another Needle in a Haystack

I'll post a very poor picture of mine below. It's the closest one I can find in my file. It's basically an "L" shaped soft rubber tube with one end grooved to fit in the blower motor opening. The links below show the tube that looks closest. It's listed for GM vehicles as early as 1982. If you Google "GM 15-34062", you'll get a lot of hits. Rock Auto indicates that the vented blower motors for our trucks fit Chevrolet applications from 1957-1991. So, there's a good chance that at least the grooved motor end of the tube may be the correct diameter (I think 7/8"). There should be a plastic nipple or elbow screwed to your evaporator case that the non-grooved end slips over. I don't recall any sort of clip or clamp securing the hose to the nipple. I'm posting some eBay links that show a couple elbow versions, but I THINK ours were more of a straight nipple than elbow.

I wish I could be more specific, but I'm 2100 miles from my truck.

Re: Another Needle in a Haystack

My mistake thought you were referring to tube at bottom of the evaporator box. The tube you have pictured I don't know where you will find other than a better used one of another truck.

Re: Another Needle in a Haystack

FirstOwner69 - thanks for the pic! Now I have a better idea of what to look for. I have found 4 different ones in my search, I have one of each coming my way. Hopefully one will fit, if not, I can "Frankenstein" one together. Thanks to all who replied with help and suggestions.
