1966 C10 American Racing Torq Thurst II - Help Please

Trying to determine the best fit for the truck. I have 2.5" front drop spindles and 4" rear drop springs. I am running a 396 bbc. The rotor bolt circle is 5"x5". i am being told by Western Chassis the best backspacing would be 3.5" to 4".

I am way out of my league on this. I am use to staying stock.

Any experience or help would be appreciated. thanks!

Re: 1966 C10 American Racing Torq Thurst II - Help Please

You can't figure your backspacing until you know how wide your wheels are going to be. Very common for these trucks to use a 4.5" backspacing on an 8" wide wheel. 7" would only need 4". 6" would need 3.5". 9" would be 5.5". See how it can make a difference.

And this is just general info. Changes in suspension, brakes, etc. can make these numbers different. Measure, measure, measure.

It's still a work in progress, so I don't have a lot of photos of it, and none with the fenders on unfortunately.

But you didn't answer the question. How wide to you want to run? No one can tell you what back spacing you might need until we know what width wheel you are planning to run. The numbers I posted give you the most common recommended BS to the width of the wheel.

Then what diameter. That can be an issue in the front. Then the tires you want to use can have an effect in the rear with running out of room in the back.

Re: 1966 C10 American Racing Torq Thurst II - Help Please

I run 18" x 8" in the front and 18" x 9" in the rear on my 64. Rims have 4.5" Backspacing on the front and 5" Backspacing on the rear.

Tires are 255/60R18 in the front and 265/60R18 in the rear. The rears have a tad to much side wall bulge as they rub occasionally on the inner wheel tubs.

Truck has about a 4" drop in the back and a 3.5 drop in the front using CCP drop spindle with 1" lowered belltech spring.
