Frame differences?
I have a friend with a 70 c20 and he wants to convert it to 4x4 but it's very hard to find a 67-72 chevy 4wd frame for a fair price.
What I want to know is are the frames between a 70 c20 and a 76 k20 similar enough I can rob the spring hangers off this frame and put them on his? I know they are different wheelbase but the frames look very similar to the squarebody truck frames I'm familiar with.

Re: Frame differences?
I am in process of installing a set of 76 3/4 ton axles under my 67 k20
The differences I have found so far are with the spring perches on the corp 14 needing to be moved inboard for a narrower frame and the shock mounts moved to match the 67 That my 2 cent |

Re: Frame differences?
How about the hangers on a 2WD frame? Can they be added?

Re: Frame differences?
Crawled under and this is what I came up w
This is a comparison of my c10 to my K20 frames Both are 28" at the front spring mount and 34" at the rear In the front 2 rivets need to be removed and holes reused to mount the spring bracket First pic For the rear mount of the front spring some reshaping of the side of the frame rail needs to be done to flatten it Pic 2&3 k20 Pic 4 c10 I now you are using a c20 frame but should be similar Hope this helps |

Re: Frame differences?
Ground it smooth and measured for the holes and cut the larger one with a holesaw

Re: Frame differences?
You can drop the earlier cab right on to the later model chassis. The front cab mounts line right up as do the mounts for the front sheet metal. You will have to shim of course. The chassis are the same width so you can make the early model work on the late model for the rear cab mounts. The bed mounts you will be flying blind. This works for 60-66 as well
