Help id-ing by Vin # might be a good find for someone

I tried identifying my 68 SWB by the info in the 68 Chassis Service Manual but fell a little short. The Vin is CE148B120902. I know C = Conventional cab. E = V-8 motor. 1 = 3600-5600 Gross Veh. wt. range. But then there are only 2 more #'s (48) before the letter designating the factory that built it. The book says there should be 6 #'s before the factory letter. What am I missing here? I'm just trying to confirm that it's a genuine SWB.
Then there is a 1969 4x4 for sale around the corner from my house. The guy started at $3500 but I have him down to $2250 and I think 2000 cash in his face would buy it. I don't really want it since I am currently working on a 68 but someone here might be interested. It's got a 350 that he says was running when he parked it 6 months ago. He says it runs and will drive . Good title. Better than average body, (pretty darn straight, very little rust on fenders and quarters) but still needs "everything" restored. Rockers, cab corners, door bottoms, seat cover, lights, etc. 6 ft. bed looks VERY good from what I can see. Missing bumpers, some lights, looks pretty rough to the average person to be honest. Vin # CE240Z105632. Does that = a true 4x4 1969 SWB truck? Just wondering.

It doesn't list the WB on the SPID?

115= Short 127= Long 133= Cab & Chassis, and 157= Cab & Chassis...... There may be others I am forgetting.

THE 48 is 4 = pickup and the 8 = 1968

OK thanks. Yes the SPID says 115 for my 68 SWB, so that's good. What is that "cab to axle dimension" listed in the service manual? That's what confused me. So the 40 in the 4x4 's vin = p/u and 1970. He says it's a 69. I wonder what the title says?

The title can vary per state when the truck was purchased. Mine is an early 71 but was purchased in 70 so the state registered it as a 70 on the title

Based on what i've found
C = Conventional
E = 8 cylinder
2 = 3/4 ton
4 = pickup
0 = 1970
Z = Fremont Assembly plant
105632 = 5632 unit built

If it were a true 4x4 [as in Factory] the VIN would start ''KE...'', not ''CE''. Cab swap? Tag swap? Does the VIN tag have ''rosette'' style rivets?
As for the DMV getting the year wrong [1969 vs 1970], I'll buy the explanation. Hell, I can't even tell a '69 from a '70 and I've been driving my '68 Stepside since '73.
And if it's a GMC, the VIN can have slight differences from Chevy's system.

I thought that might be the case with the "KE" designation. I didn't know if that was just for Blazers or if that also applied to p/u. So if that's the case, the hole for the transfer case shifter should look/be "homemade", since it probably wasn't 4x4 to start with. I'll look. And I'll take a closer look at those rivets. This would make a good 4x4 project I think. And at a price you would have a hard time duplicating. I have no " interest" in getting it sold, just passing along a decent find.

If it makes any difference, the three-quarter ton VIN number would have been a factory long bed. You can check the partial VIN number on the top of the frame rail which is near the power steering pump on the driver's side. The VIN on the door jam plate, the SPID, and the partial VIN on the frame should all match the title. Someone with more knowledge than me should probably verify this is all correct. All of my experience has been with 71 and 72s
