Rear flip kit bump stop ?
I know this has been done to death but though I would ask. I just got done doing a 4.5 / 6 inch kit from Western Chassis. Up front i did 2.5 spindles and 2 inch drop springs, drop springs, new control arm bushings upper and lower, ball joints, tie rods ect.. Front is great, BUT
Did the rear today, Flip kit, rear shackles, shock extender and drop shocks, Have a heavy half 75 C-10. Took the helper/overload spring off put new bushings in the leaf springs, installed the shock extenders and drop shocks as well as shackles. put wheels on dropped it down, bump stops on the axle, No suspension. Jacked it back up put the leaf in the 1st position of the shackle, dropped it down looked like i had 1/4 inch from bump stop to frame, jumped on bumper, bump stop back on axle. I took before and after measurements and i am only dropped a little under 5 inches. If i remove the whole bump stop assly i would only have 2.5 inches if it doesn't drop anymore once the bump stop is off the axle. I was hoping to avoid any kind of notch.. Is there anything else i can do here? Thanks

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
1) I think your u-bolt mount is on upside down. I think the angled ends should be pointing down.
2) Remove the factory bumpstop completely. 3) Energy Suspension makes a wee bumpstop that you can put in its place, part number 9.9132 (3/8″ thick) which will work for you. I ran with zero rear bumpstops at all for the past ten years.

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
Your bottom bracket is upside down might wana fix that.....also the lowest you can go without a notch is 6" an thats if you dont tow or haul with it. so you have flip kit that gives you 5" plus shackes....set the shackles at 1" drop. Remove bumpstop an get some aftermarket ones

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
Yes to all the above, I would put the original shackle bracket back on, mine looks exactly like yours with no problems, only time the frame and axle came in contact is when I hauled a pallet of ceramic tile home from Lowes, thankfully I live only a 1/4 mile away

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
Thank for the replies, I am going to remove the factory bumpstop, Hopefully I am not banging on the frame. The truck already had a drop shackle so I do not have the originals so I will look for a set of stock shackles. Would taking off more leafs help give me a little clearance?

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
Taking leafs out will give you less clearance, because there are less leafs holding the truck up.

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
Flipped the bottom bracket over and grinded off the damn rivets holding on the bump stop brackets.. Have some clearance now. Still rides pretty poorly, Thought it would be much better with all new bushings, ball joints, springs, shocks ect..

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
Are you getting any axle smacking the frame?
A flip kit AND longer shackles is a lot of drop.

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
Maybe a dumb question but..When you use shock extenders aren't you supposed to use regular length shocks not drop shocks?

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
You're supposed to be able to use regular length replacement shocks but it all depends on the trucks combination of parts. I've had to run a shorter shock on more than one truck.

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
I would imagine that those are 56" springs and possibly original; so there may be some sag in those old springs which will also drop you a little lower. I replaced my 7/1 (could have been 8/1) springs with new ones, took out the overload spring and one normal spring and I sit about five inches off the axle. I bought a round 2" or so bump-stop from summitt. All should be well. Thanks Mike
Note: I also put the original shackles and hanger back on during my flip.

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
Here's a pic. -We basically have the exact same set-up. Keep in mind, I do not have the floor in the pic of the truck, so it's up slightly in the back. Thanks Mike

Re: Rear flip kit bump stop ?
I'm in a similar predicament. I installed a belltech 4/6 kit and the rear frame was resting on the axel, I ended up taking the leafs to a spring shop and had them add an inch of arch and another thin leaf - hoping to have back together tonight.
