What is this bracket?
This little bracket was attached by the outer small hole you see in the pic, to one of my oil pan bolts on the driver side, in the middle of the block, covering the coolant drain plug on that side of the block. Nothing was attached to it. I've never seen it before. Anyone know? The way the big hole has a flat spot, and the notches to either side make it look pretty specific.

Re: What is this bracket?
Only thing I can think of would be a floor shifter cable bracket but not sure why it would be on the oil pan.

Re: What is this bracket?
That could be. It has a BOP400 when I pulled it and that isn't original. It has the turbo hydra option on the SPID which I think can mean it had a 350. Still don't know why it would be on the oil pan

Re: What is this bracket?
Maybe a PO removed it but didn't want to lose it.... so he attached it to a pan bolt? People can do some crazy things....

Re: What is this bracket?
My 350 motor has something like that on the pan bolt and they ram my plug wires through the big hole to keep them off the exhaust manifold,Might have been added for the same reason.

Re: What is this bracket?
That makes sense why it was used, but doesn't seem like that's what it was made for. My truck had been poorly switched to headers, probably when it was rebuilt in the 80s.

Re: What is this bracket?
It is an original AC truck, although everything but one of the brackets was removed.
There's an idea. Time to look up the assembly and service manuals.
