Im pulling the original I6 motor. Question is do I keep it, because its the original motor or sell it. I guess the next question is are they worth anything.

Re: keep original motor or not

Take a video of it running and then keep it for a bit. I wish I had kept some of the engines I sold. They were not 6's but still I could use one now. This was over 10 years ago.,

If you plan on selling it later I would take photo of Oil Pressure get a Compression Check on Cylinders before tearing it out. Just so buyer knows it was a running decent motor.

Good question, if you have the space I'd store it away. You can't get much $ for it anyway. If these truck become super desirable one day and numbers matching becomes a concern then you'll be glad you kept it.

If you don't have the room then of course you have to let it go.

It turns over, but getting it running at this point is not an option. I will keep it for now. Not even sure what size it is. Thanks for the help.

I was once a BiG 6 cylinder guy. I miss it sometimes. Don't believe the effort is appreciated by the new hot rodders. These engines used to beat flat-heads back int the day when hot rodding started in mass post wwII.

Awesome looking motor, but i love the sound of a warmed over V8. Cant get that sound from a I6.

Then I think your decision is made - why the thread?
Who cares what anyone else thinks anyway - it's your truck and you will get positive and negative responses no matter what you do.

Re: keep original motor or not

Was never about running the 6 in the truck. Just about if I should keep it because its the original motor to that truck. I wasn't sure if it would be a mistake to get rid of it. Somebody someday may want the original motor for the truck i guese.
But then again, if it's worth any money then i could sell it and help finance my project
