Post some pics of what you have. Might get more info. My 61 is a little different in shock mounting.

Agreed. We're a bunch of picture mongers! Seriously though, you'll probably get more responses with a handful of pics of what you have.

Re: 1966 Stock 4x4 chassis

From memory it looks identical to what my '63 came with.

Closed knuckle Dana 44
T221 T case
12 Bolt rear - This is the only difference I could see. It looks like the shock mounts on top have been moved inward towards the center and that the lower mounts (the ones hanging down off of the axle) have been abandoned and relocated?

Re: 1966 Stock 4x4 chassis

The rear bump stops and lift blocks look the same as mine.

The front bump stop mount are below the frame as opposed to on the outside of the frame. Could be a small model year change?

Re: 1966 Stock 4x4 chassis

Some pics. Kinda crappy though.

1st pic is of the front axle original front spring hanger before I cut it out. Cast iron with the grease pins. Don't mind the second leaf spring in the pic. It was there for comparison.

2nd is of the front shock and at what appears to be the top of the shock boot you can see the bump stop bracket hanging off of the side of the frame with the slot in it. The rubber bumper would attach to that slot.

3rd pic is of the shock absorber mounting. The rear shocks on my '63 run more or less parallel to the frame and slant forward. They attach to brackets on the frame with a 3/4" bolt that runs all the way through the bracket and the frame. The lower shock mounts were originally on the 12 bolt that it came with. I cut those off and welded them on the Dana 60 that was in it for a while then cut and relocated the lower shock mounts that were on the 14 bolt to match the location of the originals.

Hope this helps.

Re: 1966 Stock 4x4 chassis

Like Chris said looks factory stock. Just for info some pics of my shock mounting as yours looks modded. can't really tell. My top ft shock mounts are modded. (pic of the ft mounts i cut off) Your ft shock upper mount should go through the frame.

The front bump stops on my 65 are also outboard, but yours look stock so probably a 66 only thing

your frame looks to me like it is a 60-62 frame, with newer rear axle

Re: 1966 Stock 4x4 chassis

I think you are right Joe. Looks just like my 61 frame. rear upper shocks are like mine and it has a front motor mount on the x-member.
