Gas gauge

I am having a problem with my gas gauge, it reads a little below 1/2 tank and sometimes it will go a little above 1/2 tank. I replaced the sending unit yesterday thinking that was the problem, no change still reads the same, so I'm guessing it's the gauge, there's not anything else or am I missing something.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Gas gauge

I think if you search around you will find a process of testing the gauge and the sending unit

Re: Gas gauge

It's generally best to test things using standard test procedures before changing parts.
Take out the sending unit, ground it, turn on the key and work the float up and down to see if the gauge moves.
If it doesn't move test the sending unit resistance
Taking the wire off the sending unit, no input to gauge should cause gauge to move to 3 o clock position.
