Seat Belt lables
Please help a brother out with some pics
Im going to restore my seat belts down to the little sewn on lable, trouble is I have a ton of belts in a tote box and can't remember which set was originally in my truck. Can you guys with original trucks please post pics of the little sewn on tag, Im trying to make sense of the model # on the lable. With pics of lable please list the year of the truck and if truck is the, Base Model, Custom, CST, Cheyenne, Sierra or what have you. Thanks Steve |

Re: Seat Belt lables
I suspect google might be your best bet...
If this is your Burb...there will be 5 sets with same labels A truck at best would have only 2 belt sets.... |

Re: Seat Belt lables
Send me a pm with you phone number and I will text you as many pics as you want, I have a factory set of shoulder belts and multiple truck sets of belts, they are currently on my dining room table so sooner is better, I laid them out today to take inventory of what I need and what is ready to sell.
I need some seat belt tags too. Do you have someone lined up to print them? Inline tube reproduces some seat belt tags, not sure if they do the truck ones or not. |

Re: Seat Belt lables
The first picture below is one of the original belts in my '69 (all positions are the same). This belt was made the 45th week of 1968 by Irvin.
The second picture is one of the shoulder belts I removed from a '72 Blazer. It was made the 43rd week of 1971 by Robbins. The last picture shows the different belt materials used. The top one with 4 equal rows is one of the Irvin belts original to my '69. The bottom one with 3 rows is the shoulder belt from the '72 Blazer. |

Re: Seat Belt lables
I am almost certain the belts were the same for all trim levels. The lap belts I showed in my post are in my 69 CST with bucket seats. Regarding model numbers, I'm thinking they could be related to the color. Just a guess.

And I have seat belts in a tote with different model #s. But maybe you have a piont, maybe Cars have belts that changed with the trim level, and trucks all had the same type of belts across all the trim levels. Come to think of it Cars from 1967- 72 did have different types of belts, some had the same plastic style as our trucks, and there was another plastic type, and Ive seen at least 2 diff brushed steel type |

Re: Seat Belt lables
After doing a couple hours of research on Corvette, Camaro and Chevelle forums, it appears that the model number has nothing to do with belt color. The date code (for example, 45-A-68 shown in my post#5) does indicate the week (45) and year (68) that the belt was made. The letter (A) identifies the supplier's plant or production line. Some cars, such as first generation Camaros, did have different buckles for low and high trim levels. The Camaros had buckles like ours (but not our 67s) on the lower level trim packages and brushed stainless buckles on the higher trim levels. I know from personal experience that Olds also used the brushed stainless buckles.

Re: Seat Belt lables
I just remembered that I have a set of belts from a '67. Here's a picture of the label. Notice that this one says Irving rather than Irvin as on my '69 belts. According to the Camaro website "For unknown reasons, the Irving name was changed to Irvin in 1969". Further research says that Leslie Irvin founded the Irving Air Chute company. The belt labels on my '58 Corvette say Irving Air Chute.
Enough trivia??? Last edited by FirstOwner69; 09-23-2017 at 01:47 PM. |

Re: Seat Belt lables
I ordered my seat belt materials from Seat Belts Plus. I ordered my new labels, chrome buckles, and new buckle decals from In Line Tube.

Re: Seat Belt lables
You can go to their web sites and see what they sell. Seat Belts Plus has different colors and weave patterns. In Line Tube has several seat belt items. I sent them pictures and information on my old labels. I had a local upholstery shop put it together.
