I just put on a repop grommet. It seemed to fit just fine, seals up nice, looks good.

That depends on if it's made in USA or India.

Yes the India rubber products are very inferior and not very pliant when working with it. Ask your dealer where it is made before you buy from them.

I got one from LMC, it cost me a repaint on my cab of my orange truck (avatar pic). Basecoat, clearcoat, buffing and masking supplies, plus a ton of time. It was a piece of crap and I tried to install it anyway.

I suspect it was made out of rare Indian Concrete Rubber.

Just buy the GM one and get it over with. They are like 10 bucks. It only costs a couple of more bucks to get the best. GM ones are very soft and supple. If you have a good aim with your pitching arm, you can pretty much throw it into place from across the parking lot.

Tx Firefighter ~ That's what I want to avoid. Who has the GM grommets? Are they installed on the gas tank or the cab and then slide the gas tank through the cab?

I got mine at the local dealership. It was a stocking part number. I suspect that it fits other vehicles along with our trucks, because they stocked plenty of them.

I installed mine over the neck of the tank when the tank was already installed in the truck. Use lube of course.
