Biggest Static Drop

What's the biggest reasonable static drop for a daily driver?
Pics with drop stated would help.

Define daily and how good is your back.The lower you go static the rougher some trucks ride.And if its gonna be a true daily driver id think hard about air bags.You can bag a truck and not have it lay frame or cut up the bed to do it.

Mine was 5/6 drop i drove it 2 days during the week then on weekends....if its a daily i would go 3/5

Daily would be most days. I would park my Avalanche during the summer and use the dropped truck.

Mine has a 5/7 drop, its a very rough ride on anything other than a smooth road. I do have cut big block coil springs which significantly stiffened the front end. So when I go over bumps my front end barely moves and my rear end bounces up and down.

the roads in your area may dictate your drop...if all your roads are smooth as a babies butt you can go low...if they're like our guvment funded roads around here not so much...I'd shoot for 2/4 or 3/5..keep it reasonable and you'll be happier...

3/5 - 4/6 on a Square body. Beyond that the clearance issues come into play.

Agree with 4/6.

Cut coils on the front; relocated the spring hangers on the rear and took a leaf out.

Daily driver for six or seven years before selling. Rode great (other than going slow over railroad tracks).

Mine is about 4/6. My old 74 had that much drop too n it was fine. Didnt ride that great tho cuz i didnt have drop shocks

This was with a flip kit and 1.5" drop spindles and 2" drop coils in the front. I banged control arms on the ground. I think it dropped more than advertised, though.

I won't argue "he drives the hell out of it!" but I will about the how practical it is w/that drop. It might be a static drop but it's not a typical static drop. Slosh tubs & Ride Tech shocks make a big difference but are also a big investment. The 30 series 22" rolling stock doesn't add to the DD category either. Maybe it works where all the roads are smooth, but not so much elsewhere (DAILY).

I've run 5" front drop on two different 73-87's including my current [and first] one. At least 100,000K worth of miles over the years on the setup without issues including multiple states out here in the southwest.

What size are these Soft 8’s.?

I’ve got an 8 lug and thinking of going 17x9 with 5 inch backspace. I want to tuck under. I like more tuck, rather than too flush. The rear wheels of the truck in this pic are perfect.

I’m going for 5/8 drop OR 5.5/8 drop. Drop spindle and coils up front and flip kit, shackle and c-notch out back.

Sorry to those who don’t like seeing old threads revived but this truck looks perfect.

I have had 4/6, and 5/7 drops on daily drivers.

The 4/6 was a lot easier to deal with. Without having to remember I have to be careful at certain points.

On the 5/7. Speed bumps, and driveways became a concern.

To me both were fine to drive, but proper part selection. Especially shocks, and there alignment are a big deal.

I will agree for most people over the widest area a 3/5 or 4/6 will be your best choices.

Bags are cool, but you have to remember to air up. Before not after you high center on a speed bump. So if your lazy, and like to relax when you drive. It may not be a ideal choice.

I hear you. But for putting around, low is the way to go (for me) and static.

Not sure if you considered this but that truck w/the wheels your inquiring about is a 1/2 ton & you're mentioning yours as a 3/4 ton.... Back space needs will be different because the rear end widths are different.
