Lower / Dropped Rear Spring Identification
I'm hoping someone on this forum can help identify these rear springs from my 1969 C10. I bought a rolling chassis with these installed, but the previous owner did not know how much drop they were for. I don't care about manufacturer, rather just how much drop they are for. I'm guessing its somewhere between 2" and 6", but I really don't know.
They have been painted, and the only marking I can find on them is a stamped R4. They measure about 10.25" under no load as seen in the picture. Installed, the truck sits pretty low with only a few inches between the frame and axle (and that's with just the bed floor installed). Thanks! |

Re: Lower / Dropped Rear Spring Identification
Bump for weekend traffic
I've read on this forum that stock rear springs are between 12.25 to 13", so by my measurements they would be a 2-3" drop. However, the R4 stamping leads me to believe they may be a 4" drop. The front has dropped spindles and maybe springs (I'll be asking about them once I finish the rear), so it would make sense if the rear was dropped at least 2.5" as well. |

I have a pair of CCP dropped coils out in the shop that still have all of the markings on them. I can't remember off the top of my head what they are but I will check and measure the overall height in the morning if you haven't received the info. LockDoc

Re: Lower / Dropped Rear Spring Identification
They are 4" rear drop springs from Brothers trucks. I bought 5" rear drop coil springs and 1" front drop coils from them. The fronts are stamped "F1" and the rear are stamped "R5".

Re: Lower / Dropped Rear Spring Identification
Thanks for the replies. The 4" drop totally makes sense based on how close the axle is to the frame.
