Cab Corners

Hi guys, I’m relatively new to the body work scene and I have a guy I talk to a lot for any questions and concerns but I would like a second opinion. Working on a 84 cab. I have the old rotten cab corner cut out and I was test fitting the replacement. When replacing both inner and outer cab corners do you guys weld in the inner first? Or the outer? The guy I talk to is old school and does things his own way. Just curious on what other guys do also. Thanks.

Re: Cab Corners

I am not an expert but I welded the inner first and it turned out well. I think if you did it in the other order you'd have a lot of hassle trying to fit up the inner, and have to do more work with your head under the cab.

My replacement inners also didn't have the drain holes so I punched a hole in them for a 1" plastic plug.

If you search my posts I put up a few pics of my cab corner replacement in thread quite a while ago. My replacement ones fit like garbage and I had to split them and remove 1/4"+ for them to line up (designed to be a 'slip fit' I guess). Something to watch out for.
